To set up an offline MESHA assessment:
- Create a sitting for your students from the assessment's page (same process as for Online assessments);
- Download and print the question booklet and answer sheets; and
- Provide question booklets and answer sheets for students to complete.
Video Walkthrough
For a full walkthrough of this process, please see the video below.
Step 1: Find your MESHA assessment
-
Log in to Edrolo and click Assessments in the left-hand menu.
- Scroll down to the MESHA section to see every MESHA assessment available to your school.
-
If the list is long, click Filters and choose Open to show only the assessments available right now. You can also use the Search box.
- Find the assessment you want and click View assessment.
⚠️ Note: You can only create sittings for assessments marked Open. Check the Assessment window column to see the dates each assessment is available.
Step 2: Create a sitting
A sitting is the session where your students complete the assessment. You can create one sitting for a whole class, or separate sittings for smaller groups of students.
-
On the assessment page, scroll to Assessment sittings and click Create sitting.
- Select the class (or classes) sitting the assessment.
- To include only some students, tick Set for specific students within a class, then tick or untick students as needed. Use Select all or Deselect all to save time.
- Under Set the assessment sitting date, click the date field and choose the date and time of the sitting.
- Click Create sitting. You'll see a "Sitting created successfully" message, and your new sitting will appear at the top of the Assessment sittings table.
If a student is already in another sitting
If a student has already been allocated to a previous siting, they will need to be removed from that sitting before being able to have an offline assessment paper generated.
- If a student has not started an assessment, they can be easily removed from their previous sitting by clicking Remove from current sitting.
- If a student has started an assessment, please contact us via MESHA@edrolo.com to remove the student's previous assessment submission.
Step 3: Download and print the assessment pack
- In the Assessment sittings table, find your sitting and click the three-dot menu (⋮) at the end of the row.
-
Click Download assessment pack.
- Choose your download format:
- Questions booklet + answer sheets (recommended): two separate PDF files. One contains the assessment questions, and the other contains an answer sheet for each student in the sitting.
-
Combined file: one PDF that alternates an answer sheet and the questions for each student in turn. This can work for a small group, but separate files are less confusing for bulk printing.
- Click Download. A loading message appears in the bottom-right corner, and both files download as soon as they're ready.
- Open the files and print them so each student has a copy of the questions and their own answer sheet. See the Example files at the bottom of this article for reference.
Step 4: Deliver the assessment
- Hand each student a copy of the questions and the answer sheet with their own name on it.
- Run the assessment under your usual MESHA rules and test conditions.
- Remind students to:
- Use a dark pencil to fill in their answers.
- Completely shade one circle (A, B, C or D) for every question.
- To change an answer, rub out the original answer clearly, then shade the new one.
- Do not write or draw on the QR code, the black corner squares, or anywhere outside the answer circles.
- Collect all answer sheets at the end, ready to scan and upload to Edrolo.
⚠️ Note: Writing on the QR code or corner squares can stop the answer sheet from being read correctly when you upload it, so keep sheets clean and uncreased.
