What happens when a Task passes its due date?

By default, students can still view and submit a task after the due date passes. The due date lets students know when they're expected to finish, but it doesn't automatically close the task.

Auto-close

When creating a task, you can enable the auto-close toggle. If auto-close is on, the task will close automatically at the due date and students will no longer be able to submit.

If auto-close is off (the default), the task stays open until you close it manually.

Extending the due date

You can extend the due date on any scheduled or open task at any time even after students have started. This is useful if you need to give a student extra time or if the class needs more time to complete the work.

Once students have started, you can only extend the due date (not shorten it).
