You can make changes to a task after it has been created, including after it has been sent to students. What you can change depends on whether any student has responded yet.
Before any student has responded
You have the most flexibility here. You can:
- Edit the task title available on any scheduled or open task
- Add or remove students you can add students who join the class after the task was published, or remove students who haven't started yet
- Extend or shorten the due date
- Add or remove content questions and videos can be changed freely before any student responds
After at least one student has responded
Once the first student starts the task, some things lock to protect the integrity of everyone's results.
You can still:
- Edit the task title
- Add students for example, if a student joins the class late
- Extend the due date you can push the deadline out, but you cannot shorten it
You can no longer:
- Change, add, or remove questions or video content
- Remove a student who has already started the task
- Shorten the due date

Can I extend the due date on a task that's already open? Yes. You can extend the due date on any scheduled or open task at any time.
Can I change the questions after students have started? No. Once any student has responded, the questions and content are locked. This ensures every student's results are based on the same task.
