Creating a task with Task 2.0

Creating a task in Tasks 2.0 takes you through a three-step setup before reaching the content builder.

Step 1: Choose a task type

From your Tasks page, click Start from scratch to begin.

Select the type of task you are creating. Edrolo uses this to filter relevant content in the next step.

Step 2: Select your class or students

Choose the class you are assigning this task to. You can assign to the whole class or click the filter icon next to a class to select specific students.

Note: Each task can only be assigned to one class at a time. If you need to assign the same task to multiple classes, create it once and then duplicate it.

Step 3: Name your task and set the dates

Enter a task name, a start date, and a due date. You can also enable auto-close if you want the task to close automatically when the due date passes.

  • A descriptive task name helps students understand more easily what the task is about
  • If no start date is set, the task starts immediately when sent to students
  • Due date is optional but strongly recommended: tasks with a due date have higher completion rates
  • Auto close task after the due date prevents students from submitting responses once the task closes

  • Apply filters by topic, lesson, content type, or marks to narrow results further.
  • Select multiple items using the checkboxes, then click Add selected to add them together. Or click + on any item to add it individually.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Can I assign a task to students from different classes? Not in a single task. Each task is limited to one class. To assign the same task to multiple classes, duplicate it and assign one copy to each class.
  2. Can I assign to individual students rather than the whole class? Yes. In Step 2, use the Set for individual students option to pick specific students.
  3. Can I add a student who joins the class after I've sent the task? Yes. You can add students to a task at any point before it closes, including after it's already live.
  4. Can I use the same question in more than one task? Yes. The same question can appear in multiple tasks. It just can't appear more than once within the same task.
