What’s the new Student Home and what does it mean for teachers?

The new Student Home is a change to the student landing page, built to complement the Teacher Homepage. It transforms the static bookshelf into a guided, action-oriented experience.

For you as a teacher, the Student Home means your assigned tasks with due dates are now clearer and easier for students to act on.

How Student Home Helps Your Teaching

The Student Home is designed to support your classroom effectiveness by increasing student engagement with assigned work and building consistency in study habits.

1. Increases Task Visibility and Completion

The teacher-assigned tasks are now front-and-center for students.

  • Clear Visibility: Teacher-assigned tasks due within the next 7 days (or up to 7 days overdue) are clearly laid out in the "Upcoming tasks" list.
  • Actionable States: Tasks are explicitly labeled with states like Overdue, Due today, and Due tomorrow, ensuring students understand the urgency.
  • Your Role Remains Simple: You will continue using the same task workflows you use today. Simply set a due date to ensure the task appears prominently on the Student Home.

2. Helps students pick up right where they left off

The new feature helps students get back into learning faster, which improves their session value rate.

  • One-Click Resume: Each subject card includes a Resume action that returns students to the most relevant learning point in that subject.
  • Smart Pick-Up Point: This function prioritises question responses and otherwise uses the latest video timestamp to ensure the student doesn't lose time navigating. This reduces drop-off at session start.

3. Encourages Consistent Study Habits

The Student Home provides light-touch motivational aids, which help students build momentum.

  • Weekly Signals: Simple weekly signals track students' progress by showing Questions completed, Videos viewed, and Time spent.
  • Tasks Streak: This metric encourages accountability by increasing when students complete your teacher-created tasks on time.

What This Doesn't Change

  • Your Task Workflows: You will not need to change how you set or manage tasks.
  • Content Access: Students can still browse subjects as usual; the legacy bookshelf view remains accessible during the rollout transition. No content is removed.
  • Privacy and Data: Student Home follows existing privacy standards, and weekly signals are designed as motivation aids.
