The new Student Home is built to give students a faster, clearer path to learning and task completion. Your guidance and existing practices are key to helping students maximise its effectiveness.
Here are the practical actions you can take to boost student success with this new feature.
1. Leverage Tasks to Set Clear Expectations
The Student Home highly prioritises assigned tasks with due dates, making them more visible than ever.
- Keep Assigning Tasks as Normal: Continue to use your standard task workflows. Student Home simply makes these assigned tasks with due dates clearer and easier for students to act on.
- Emphasise Due Dates: Tasks only appear on the Student Home when they have a due date set. Creating tasks with a due date sets clear expectations and holds students accountable.
-
Promote the Tasks Streak: Encourage students to complete their assigned work before the due date passes. Completing your teacher-created tasks on time adds to the student's Tasks Streak, reinforcing positive study habits.
2. Encourage One-Click Resuming
The "Continue your last lesson" function is designed to reduce confusion and friction at the start of a study session.
- Focus on the First Action: Encourage students to use the Continue button on each subject card to pick up exactly where they left off. This means fewer clicks to the first meaningful action each session.
-
Explain the Resume Logic: Remind students that the system prioritises returning them to the most recent learning point where they engaged with question responses. If they are reviewing videos, it defaults to the latest video timestamp.
3. Progress Signals as Motivation
The weekly signals (Questions completed, Videos viewed, Time spent) are motivational aids.
- Use as Light-Touch Motivation: Position these metrics as tools to help students build momentum and track micro-progress.
-
Clarify the Reset: If students ask, let them know that most metrics reset weekly on Monday at 00:00, except for the Tasks Streak, which runs continuously.
