Frequently Asked Questions about Assessments

Answers to common questions about running Assessments with your classes.

1. How is opening an assessment different from assigning a Task?

With Tasks, you build the work and assign it to a class or to individual students. Assessments work a little differently. They're already built and ready to go, so there's no assigning step. You simply open access for the classes you want, and close it again when you're done.

2. Do students get a notification when I open an assessment?

Students don't receive a separate notification. The assessment appears in their Assessments list as available as soon as you open it, so it's worth letting your class know when it's ready to start.

3. Can students still see their results after I close the assessment?

Yes. Completed assessments and results stay available to students even after you close access, so they can revisit their work and your feedback any time.

4. How do students mark their own work?

After submitting, students are prompted to mark their short-answer responses against the sample answer and marking guide. Their score and question-by-question breakdown appear once everything is marked, either by the student or by you.

5. Where can I see what a student has completed?

You can see each class's submissions and results from the assessment itself, using Monitor progress and View results.

6. Why can't my students see an assessment?

If an assessment isn't showing for a class, check that you've opened access for that class. Some assessments also depend on your school's Edrolo plan, so a particular assessment may not be available to every class.
