Your students could mark their own short-answer responses first, and you can then review, adjust and add feedback to any of them. This article shows how marking works.
Open the marking view
From Monitor progress or the results grid, select Mark responses, or select a specific response. Marking opens on the first response that still needs your attention.
What you'll see
Each student's response and their self-mark sit alongside the sample answer, the marking guide, and a video solution where one is available. Highlighted markers show which questions and responses still need attention, so you can focus there first.
Enter or adjust a mark
Marks save automatically as you go. For each response you can:
- Accept: keep the student's self-mark.
- Reject: give the response zero.
- Enter your own mark in the field, or clear the field to remove your mark and fall back to the student's self-mark.
Leave feedback
Add a comment to explain a mark or point a student towards their next step. When the student views their results, your feedback is clearly highlighted. Any mark you change replaces their self-mark, with their original mark shown crossed out.
Move between questions and students
Move between questions using the question list, and between students within a question. After the last question, you can head back to the results page.
Note: You only mark short-answer and worked responses here. Multiple-choice questions are marked automatically and don't appear in this view.
Note: Hiding student names stays on across your sessions until you turn it off.
