Getting Started with Spaced Retrieval

What is Spaced Retrieval?

Spaced retrieval is an evidence-based study technique where students are asked to recall knowledge at increasing intervals over time.

How it Works on Edrolo

Spaced retrieval is designed to be a background habit-builder.

  • Frequency: Tasks are automatically generated every 14 days (fortnightly) per subject.
  • Content: Questions are pulled from topics students have already studied in their Edrolo course.
  • Automation: Tasks appear directly in the student’s Tasks inbox.
  • Clean Dashboards: tasks now auto-archive at the end of each 14-day cycle. This ensures students only see the most relevant, up-to-date work.

Spaced Retrieval only generates for active classes (those with activity in the last 90 days). This keeps your task lists tidy and focused on current learning.

Where do students see Spaced Retrieval Tasks?

Students will find their Spaced Retrieval Tasks in their Task Homepage.

Subject Availability

Please note that Spaced Retrieval is a new feature and currently might not be available for all schools and courses. A full list of subjects for which Spaced Retrieval is available can be found here.
